Ken Humanic found his love of racing instantly when, in 1985, a
friend of his; Gene White, asked Ken to attend the Twin
125s at Daytona International Speedway with
him. Back then Bill Elliot and company were running laps of 210 MPH at the
super speedways. It was a day that he will never forget and it was a sound
that sent chills up and down his body. |
He remained a fan for many years
and, in 2000, while at Talladega another friend, C.C. Holt, sold him his
first go-kart. Ken took it home as a present for his then 8 year old
son; Jackson.
Ken and Jackson, along with wife Christy and daughter
Malissa spent the next five years karting ... and learning. On some
weekends they would race at two or three different tracks.
Racing is a family endeavor for the Humanics and they
work together to make the team a success. Ken's son Jackson moved up to the dirt oval Pro-Stock class in 2006
after a successful run in kart. Ken has taken the wheel several times
for the Pittsburgh Circle Track Senior Series, where he finished in the top
twenty. Malissa, now nine, in entering her second season of
racing kart. In April Ken and Christy celebrated their
34th wedding anniversary.
Family is the central focus of Ken's life. He was
born into a close-knit family with two brothers and three sisters. His
father, Steven, will turn 98 this October and is still going strong
contributable in no small way to Mom Josephine's great cooking.
For all the success he has enjoyed, Ken remains humble
and aware of the needs of others. Ken always tries to promote the
sport of racing and help other teams and drivers whenever possible.
Ken is president of the E & K Group of companies. |
